I got my first rejection letter day! It’s from “Asimov’s Science Fiction” and it’s in response to REBIRTH, the story I sent them in October. It basically says that my submission is not what they’re looking for at this time for various reasons, but I should send them any new work I produce in the future because they are always interested in blah blah blah…
You get the picture.
I suppose this should be discouraging, but I don’t really feel discouraged. Instead I see it as motivation to try harder next time. I had low expectations that it would be accepted, anyway, so I’m not too disappointed and heartbroken.
This rejection slip is going on my wall, I do believe. Neat!

man, fuck them. if asimov were alive, i’m sure he’d accept it. what you need to do is follow the “black market” to get your stuff published and made into a movie. you know, backstabbing, double-crossings, treacheries, cheating, lying, stealing, all that stuff that made christmas what it is today.
wait.
i forgot what i was talking about.
you’ll get a lot of those. i learned that in class this quarter.
We should start a club or something. Maybe the “Wrejected Writers Club” or something else really lame like that.
it took me a minute to understand that that wasn’t misspelled. i’m tired.
